Nani Shells designer Tash beach combs and freedives throughout Hawaii, removing trash and collecting ocean treasures to transform into handmade Hawaiian jewelry. Every pearl, puka shell, cone shell, cowrie shell, and seaglass used in our ocean-inspired jewelry is unique, with its own distinct shape, color, and texture. Because of this natural variation, no two pieces are the same, ensuring that every piece we offer is one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry. We take pride in the natural beauty of our materials and showcase their uniqueness in every creation.

Our Pearls
Tash personally hand-selects each pearl incorporated into her designs. Through a trusted partnership with a reputable pearl supplier for over a decade, she is able to source only the finest pearls, imported directly from the crystal-clear lagoons of French Polynesia. With a direct link to farmers in Tahiti, we secure exceptional-quality pearls at equitable prices, ensuring satisfaction for all of our valued clients.
It is important to note that while the pearls we use are immaculate, slight natural variations and imperfections may be present. Perfect pearls command a premium price, but we are committed to keeping our pieces accessible while maintaining exceptional quality. Each pearl’s unique characteristics—its shape, luster, and subtle color variations—are what make it truly special.
Tahitian Pearls
Tahitian pearls, also known as black pearls, are cultivated in the black-lipped oyster (Pinctada margaritifera), native to the lagoons of French Polynesia, including Tahiti. Known for their distinctive dark colors—from metallic silver to deep black—Tahitian pearls often display overtones of green, blue, or purple.Unlike other pearls valued solely for roundness, Tahitian pearls are celebrated for their unique shapes and sizes, which can be baroque or asymmetrical. They are prized for their high luster and iridescence, which results from light reflecting off the layers of nacre. Typically larger than other pearls, Tahitians range from 8–16mm in diameter, with “bombucha” pearls measuring 13–14mm. The most valued are those with deep, uniform color, intense luster, and smooth surfaces. Their rarity and striking appearance make them a favorite for statement jewelry.
Tahitian Keshi Pearls
Tahitian Keshi pearls are entirely composed of nacre and form when a mollusk rejects the implanted nucleus during cultivation. This produces irregular, organic shapes that are one-of-a-kind. They exhibit the same beautiful colors and luster as traditional Tahitian pearls, from metallic silver to deep black with iridescent overtones. Keshi pearls add natural elegance and unique character to any jewelry piece, often smaller in size but highly prized for their rarity and individuality.Pistachio Tahitian Pearls
Pistachio Tahitian pearls are among the rarest Tahitian pearls, recognized for their greenish-gold hue reminiscent of pistachio nuts. Their color arises from natural pigments in the oyster’s mantle tissue, which are gently enhanced by several months in controlled lighting to bring out the subtle green tones. This process intensifies the pearl’s natural color without using dyes, resulting in a rich, luminous pistachio shade. The exact hue may vary depending on pigment intensity and lighting, making each pearl uniquely beautiful.Edison Pearls
Edison pearls are a breakthrough in pearl farming, offering large, lustrous pearls with exceptional color. Cultured using a bead nucleus, Edison pearls grow one per mussel over 2–3 years, allowing for superior size, natural colors, and high-quality luster. Each pearl is carefully cultivated to ensure uniqueness, making them perfect for high-end freshwater jewelry that rivals the quality of saltwater pearls.South Sea Pearls
South Sea pearls are celebrated for their large size, exceptional luster, and luxurious appearance. Grown in the warm waters of the South Pacific—off Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines—they range from white and cream to rich golden hues. Their satin-like finish and natural beauty make them a statement of elegance and sophistication. Each South Sea pearl is a rare treasure, highly prized by collectors and connoisseurs alike. Our Commitment
None of the pearls used in our jewelry are dyed. We are dedicated to offering high-quality, naturally beautiful pearls that are responsibly sourced and accessible, allowing our clients to enjoy the elegance and luxury of genuine pearls without compromise. -
